I was told by a prior mold inspector that I may have mold, but he didn't test properly. Then I had another guy come out and charge me for putting together a mold remediation protocol, and he declined to do additional testing since the first guy had already done it. I then called Anderson Restoration to come out and do the work - I expected the fees to have been in the range of $10k-30k, and that's not counting the disruption and expense of moving out and getting a rental home while they do the work. But when Nicolas from Anderson Restoration came out, he told me to pump the brakes, take a step back, and let's see if this is actually mold in the first place, because he was skeptical. He gave me the names of a couple of reputable mold testing companies (shoutout to Blake Salcetti and Dean Cox from Texas Mold Advisors). They came out, tested properly, and concluded I don't have mold - what I'm seeing are just fruit fly droppings and can be easily handled. Anderson saved me an enormous amount of hassle and expense, and you can bet I will refer them to anyone I know who needs mold restoration or water damage restoration work done. Thank you.

In March of 2024 a valve broke in my upstairs bathroom causing water damage to it and the kitchen below it. Anderson was recommended by my insurance company so I used them for the cleanup, dry out and restoration. They did an excellent job in all areas. I was so grateful and impressed with the work and professionalism they showed but I was glad to be done with them. Little did I know I would need them again. In December 2025 a pipe broke in the same bathroom causing flooding in the kitchen again. I immediately called Jared and asked if he remembered me. He said of course! What can I do for you? I told him what happened and he sent a team. Again they were prompt, professional and sensitive to my needs. They don’t mind going the extra mile for you even negotiating with the insurance company. I highly recommend Anderson Restoration.

Anderson Restoration did an amazing job thoroughly assessing the water damage done to my home. Ramiro Torres is the project manager on my case. Him and his team answered any questions or concerns that I had. They worked seamlessly with my insurance adjuster and they cleaned up after the work order was complete. I look forward to working with this team in the future! Update: Anthony Tran is helping with the repair portion of the project. He is doing an amazing job working with my insurance and providing timely estimates. I could not have asked for a better team!

Water-damaged kitchen cabinet base near a dishwasher with visible swelling in particle board and water staining on adjacent tile grout

Common Sources of Kitchen Water Damage

A dishwasher leak cleanup service call typically starts when a homeowner notices water pooling on the floor during or after a cycle. The leak often originates from a failing door gasket, a cracked supply line, or a loose drain connection, and by the time it is visible, the subfloor and adjacent cabinetry may already be saturated. Kitchen sink overflow cleanup comes next in frequency, usually from a blocked drain that backs up while the faucet is running. The water spills into the cabinet base, travels along the floor behind the kick plates, and reaches areas you cannot see without pulling cabinets away from the wall. Refrigerator leak water damage cleanup often involves a slow drip from a cracked ice maker line or a clogged defrost drain that lets water pool underneath and behind the unit for days or weeks before anyone notices the warped flooring.

Why Kitchen Leaks Spread Quickly

Kitchens sit at the intersection of multiple water supply lines and drain connections. When any of these fail, water finds pathways through cabinet bases, under flooring, and into wall cavities that connect to other rooms. Because most kitchen floors use tile, vinyl, or laminate over a particle board or plywood subfloor, the subfloor absorbs water well before any surface damage appears. Mold can begin colonizing inside these hidden spaces within two to three days in Houston’s humidity. What looks like a simple puddle by the dishwasher can involve significant structural drying once a moisture map reveals the full scope.

Our Kitchen Water Damage Restoration Process

Our IICRC-certified water damage technicians start by extracting standing water and then use moisture mapping technology to trace every path the water followed, including areas behind and beneath cabinets, inside wall cavities, and under flooring layers. Wet materials that can be saved are dried in place using controlled airflow and dehumidification; materials beyond saving are carefully removed and documented. We handle insurance paperwork from the start so your claim stays on track. See the full scope of our emergency response at our Houston water damage restoration services.

FAQ's

Water damage can be a big problem because it can weaken the structure of a building. When water gets into walls, ceilings, or floors, it can damage the materials, like wood or drywall. This damage can make the building less stable and could cause parts of it to break or fall apart.

Water damage can also lead to mold and mildew growth, which is not only bad for surfaces but can also make people sick if they breathe it in. Mold can trigger allergies and other respiratory problems, so it's important to deal with water damage quickly.

After water damage occurs, it's important to avoid certain actions that could make things worse. Don't enter rooms with standing water until it's safe, as there's a risk of electric shock. Also, don't use wet appliances or electronics, as they could be damaged or dangerous.

Trying to clean up or fix the damage yourself without the right tools and knowledge could end up costing more in the long run. One of the best steps you can take is to reach out to Anderson Restoration for water damage cleanup in Houston and surrounding areas.

If your home has been flooded, had a sewage backup, or sprung a leak, there are steps you should take to deal with the aftermath. First, make sure it's safe by turning off the electricity and gas. Then, take pictures or videos of the damage for insurance purposes.

We recommend you to contact Anderson Restoration to help with the insurance claim process.  Hiring professionals like Anderson Restoration who specialize in water damage repair in Houston to remove the water, dry out the area, repair damage loss and prevent mold from growing; would be the next best step.

Water damage can range from small leaks to major floods, and it can cause a lot of problems for a home. Aside from making the structure weaker, water damage can ruin furniture, belongings, and important papers. Fixing water damage can also be expensive, especially if it's not taken care of quickly. Plus, if water damage isn't treated, it can create perfect environmental problems.
