I was told by a prior mold inspector that I may have mold, but he didn't test properly. Then I had another guy come out and charge me for putting together a mold remediation protocol, and he declined to do additional testing since the first guy had already done it. I then called Anderson Restoration to come out and do the work - I expected the fees to have been in the range of $10k-30k, and that's not counting the disruption and expense of moving out and getting a rental home while they do the work. But when Nicolas from Anderson Restoration came out, he told me to pump the brakes, take a step back, and let's see if this is actually mold in the first place, because he was skeptical. He gave me the names of a couple of reputable mold testing companies (shoutout to Blake Salcetti and Dean Cox from Texas Mold Advisors). They came out, tested properly, and concluded I don't have mold - what I'm seeing are just fruit fly droppings and can be easily handled. Anderson saved me an enormous amount of hassle and expense, and you can bet I will refer them to anyone I know who needs mold restoration or water damage restoration work done. Thank you.

In March of 2024 a valve broke in my upstairs bathroom causing water damage to it and the kitchen below it. Anderson was recommended by my insurance company so I used them for the cleanup, dry out and restoration. They did an excellent job in all areas. I was so grateful and impressed with the work and professionalism they showed but I was glad to be done with them. Little did I know I would need them again. In December 2025 a pipe broke in the same bathroom causing flooding in the kitchen again. I immediately called Jared and asked if he remembered me. He said of course! What can I do for you? I told him what happened and he sent a team. Again they were prompt, professional and sensitive to my needs. They don’t mind going the extra mile for you even negotiating with the insurance company. I highly recommend Anderson Restoration.

Anderson Restoration did an amazing job thoroughly assessing the water damage done to my home. Ramiro Torres is the project manager on my case. Him and his team answered any questions or concerns that I had. They worked seamlessly with my insurance adjuster and they cleaned up after the work order was complete. I look forward to working with this team in the future! Update: Anthony Tran is helping with the repair portion of the project. He is doing an amazing job working with my insurance and providing timely estimates. I could not have asked for a better team!

What Happens When Water Damage Is Ignored

Black mold spreading across an interior wall, showing the need for mold removal after water damage in a residential property.

Roof & Ceiling Leaks

This can happen from a sudden storm tearing off shingles or damaging flashing, allowing water to seep into the attic.

Left unchecked, it can soak insulation, cause ceilings to sag or collapse, and pose a serious fire risk if wiring gets wet.

Leaking sink drain pipe causing water damage under cabinet

Under Sinks (Kitchen & Bathroom)

A small drip from a worn-out pipe or loose fitting may go unnoticed for weeks beneath your sink.

Over time, the moisture can rot the cabinet base, damage nearby flooring, and allow hidden mold to spread behind walls.

Ceiling water damage with exposed ductwork in residential home

HVAC Units

Condensation buildup from an unmaintained HVAC unit can overflow into ceilings or attics.

This often leads to soft spots in the ceiling, mold inside ductwork, and expensive structural repairs.

Behind Walls

This can happen from a small pipe leak or pinhole in copper plumbing slowly dripping inside the wall.

Over time, it can damage insulation, rot studs, and lead to hidden mold growth that affects air quality and health.

5. Restoration & Repairs

From drywall and flooring to full structural rebuilds, we handle all necessary repairs to return your property to pre-loss condition; clean, safe, and like it never happened.

We Handle All 3 Water Categories

This water comes from safe sources like broken pipes, rainwater, or overflowing sinks and appliances. While it poses little risk at first, untreated clean water can quickly absorb dirt, bacteria, or chemicals and turn into gray or black water. If ignored, it can lead to mold growth, unsanitary conditions, and costly damage to your home.

Our team responds fast to remove clean water, dry affected areas, and prevent the situation from escalating into a bigger, more expensive problem.

Gray water often comes from washing machines, dishwashers, showers, or toilet overflows without solid waste. It contains moderate contamination and can pose health risks through skin contact or by breathing in airborne particles. This type of water may carry bacteria, detergents, and chemicals that cause illness and lead to mold growth within 24–48 hours.

At Anderson Restoration, we respond quickly to remove gray water, disinfect all affected areas, and thoroughly dry and sanitize your home to stop further damage and protect your health.

Black water is the most hazardous type of water damage, often caused by sewage backups, floodwaters, or water containing human waste, bacteria, and toxic chemicals. It carries serious health risks, including exposure to viruses, parasites, and dangerous contaminants that can lead to severe illness or infection. Everything it touches can become unsafe, and untreated black water may destroy building materials and create long-term health hazards.

At Anderson Restoration, our certified team uses specialized equipment and safety protocols to remove black water, dispose of hazardous materials, and fully restore your home to safe, livable conditions.

Water Damage Scenarios We Handle

At Anderson Restoration, we’re equipped to handle all types of water damage—no matter the source or severity

  • Leaking Pipes: This can be old or damaged pipes, which can develop leaks, leading to water seepage into walls, floors, and ceilings.
  • Plumbing Issues: Clogged drains, burst pipes, or faulty plumbing fixtures can result in water overflow and subsequent damage.
  • Roof Leaks: Damaged or improperly installed roofs can allow water to penetrate into the building, causing damage to ceilings, walls, and insulation.
  • Appliance Malfunctions: Malfunctioning appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, or water heaters can leak water, especially if they have worn-out hoses or seals.
  • Natural Disasters: Floods, hurricanes, storms, or heavy rainfall can cause water intrusion into buildings, leading to extensive damage.
  • Poor Ventilation: Inadequate ventilation in areas like bathrooms and kitchens can lead to moisture buildup, which can cause mold growth and water damage over time.
  • Foundation Issues: Cracks or weaknesses in a building’s foundation can allow water to seep into crawl spaces, causing water damage.
  • HVAC Problems: Air conditioning units or heating systems that are improperly installed, maintained, or malfunctioning can cause condensation or leaks, leading to water damage.
  • Sewer Backup: Sewer backups due to blockages or system failures can result in contaminated water entering a building, causing significant damage and health hazards.
  • Poor Maintenance: Lack of regular maintenance and inspection of plumbing systems, roofs, and appliances can contribute to water damage problems going unnoticed and worsening over time.

FAQ's

Water damage is a serious issue because it can weaken the structure of a home or building. When moisture seeps into walls, ceilings, or floors, it can compromise materials like wood and drywall, making the structure less stable and increasing the risk of cracks, breaks, or even collapse.

Beyond structural damage, water problems often lead to mold and mildew growth. This not only damages surfaces but also creates health risks for anyone exposed. Mold spores can trigger allergies, asthma, and other respiratory problems, making it critical to address water damage quickly and thoroughly.

After water damage, certain actions can make the situation worse if not handled carefully. Avoid entering rooms with standing water until it’s confirmed safe, since there’s a serious risk of electric shock. Do not attempt to use wet appliances or electronics, as they may be damaged or pose a danger.

Trying to clean up water damage on your own without proper tools or training can lead to higher costs and hidden damage later. The safest step you can take is to call Anderson Restoration for professional water damage cleanup in Houston and the surrounding areas.

If your home has been flooded, had a sewage backup, or sprung a leak, there are steps you should take to deal with the aftermath. First, make sure it's safe by turning off the electricity and gas. Then, take pictures or videos of the damage for insurance purposes.

We recommend you to contact Anderson Restoration to help with the insurance claim process.  Hiring professionals like Anderson Restoration who specialize in water damage repair in Houston to remove the water, dry out the area, repair damage loss and prevent mold from growing; would be the next best step.

Most water damage restoration jobs take about 3 to 5 days. This includes removing water, drying the area, and checking moisture levels. More serious damage can take one to two weeks or longer, especially if materials like drywall, flooring, or cabinets need to be removed and repaired. The timeline can also change based on how much water was involved and how quickly the work started.
