I was told by a prior mold inspector that I may have mold, but he didn't test properly. Then I had another guy come out and charge me for putting together a mold remediation protocol, and he declined to do additional testing since the first guy had already done it. I then called Anderson Restoration to come out and do the work - I expected the fees to have been in the range of $10k-30k, and that's not counting the disruption and expense of moving out and getting a rental home while they do the work. But when Nicolas from Anderson Restoration came out, he told me to pump the brakes, take a step back, and let's see if this is actually mold in the first place, because he was skeptical. He gave me the names of a couple of reputable mold testing companies (shoutout to Blake Salcetti and Dean Cox from Texas Mold Advisors). They came out, tested properly, and concluded I don't have mold - what I'm seeing are just fruit fly droppings and can be easily handled. Anderson saved me an enormous amount of hassle and expense, and you can bet I will refer them to anyone I know who needs mold restoration or water damage restoration work done. Thank you.

In March of 2024 a valve broke in my upstairs bathroom causing water damage to it and the kitchen below it. Anderson was recommended by my insurance company so I used them for the cleanup, dry out and restoration. They did an excellent job in all areas. I was so grateful and impressed with the work and professionalism they showed but I was glad to be done with them. Little did I know I would need them again. In December 2025 a pipe broke in the same bathroom causing flooding in the kitchen again. I immediately called Jared and asked if he remembered me. He said of course! What can I do for you? I told him what happened and he sent a team. Again they were prompt, professional and sensitive to my needs. They don’t mind going the extra mile for you even negotiating with the insurance company. I highly recommend Anderson Restoration.

Anderson Restoration did an amazing job thoroughly assessing the water damage done to my home. Ramiro Torres is the project manager on my case. Him and his team answered any questions or concerns that I had. They worked seamlessly with my insurance adjuster and they cleaned up after the work order was complete. I look forward to working with this team in the future! Update: Anthony Tran is helping with the repair portion of the project. He is doing an amazing job working with my insurance and providing timely estimates. I could not have asked for a better team!

What Is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungus that can grow in almost any environment. Its tiny spores float in the air and can enter your home through doors, windows, vents, or by attaching to clothing and pets. When it spreads, mold usually shows up as black, green, or brown spots.

Mold grows quickly in damp, humid places. It sticks to wet surfaces and feeds on materials like wood and drywall. The more moisture it finds, the faster it spreads.

What Makes Mold Dangerous?

Mold produces harmful substances called mycotoxins and volatile organic compounds (MVOCs). These can be toxic and may cause health problems, especially for people who are allergic to mold.

Breathing in mold spores can lead to symptoms like sneezing, coughing, itchy eyes, and stuffy nose. People with mold sensitivities may feel worse. In serious cases, mold exposure can trigger asthma, lung infections, skin irritation, and headaches.

What Does Mold Look Like?

Our Mold Removal Process

What is Mold Remediation in The Woodlands, TX?

Mold remediation is the process of locating and safely removing mold from indoor spaces. It starts by inspecting the property to see how far the mold has spread, then identifying and fixing the moisture source that allowed it to grow. Next, the affected areas are sealed off to stop mold from spreading, and any contaminated materials are carefully removed and disposed of.

At Anderson, our mission is to improve your indoor air quality and protect your home and health by eliminating mold and reducing the risk of future exposure.

1. Mod Inspection & Assessment

Mold remediation is the process of identifying, containing, and removing mold from indoor environments. It involves a mold inspection to assess the extent of mold growth, addressing the underlying causes of moisture, containing the affected areas to prevent further contamination, and safely removing the mold-contaminated materials. Anderson’s goal for mold remediation is to restore indoor air quality and prevent health risks associated with mold exposure.

We don’t just provide surface-level mold removal—we aim to address the underlying issue. Every mold problem stems from water damage, which can result from various issues like burst pipes, faulty appliances, plumbing problems, or roof leaks. Our certified technicians will locate and repair the source of the water damage, then use high-quality HEPA vacuums and dehumidifiers to thoroughly dry the affected area.

We isolate the affected areas and set up negative air pressure with a HEPA filter to prevent further contamination. Anderson Restoration follows industry-approved methods to safely eliminate all mold and contaminated surfaces. If furniture or personal items are affected, we may organize and move them for cleaning and decontamination elsewhere.

Our technicians sanitize all remaining surfaces within the containment area after removing the affected porous materials.

We use wire brushes to thoroughly scrub surfaces and remove mold colonies. Then, we wipe down surfaces with disposable antimicrobial cloths and clean them using damp rags and detergent. Cleaning materials are disposed of similarly to porous materials.

In cases of extensive mold contamination, products, and surfaces may also undergo cleaning with a HEPA vacuum.

After the mold removal, decontamination, and cleaning processes are complete we are ready to restore your home to it’s pre-loss condition. Our restoration team will reconstruct the contaminated areas we extracted during the removal process like (walls, carpet, plywood in attics). We’ll reinstall your furniture, rebuild cabinets and other contaminated areas that were deconstructed for remediation purposes.

Signs of Mold On Your Property

While mold isn’t always visible, it can grow in hidden places like air ducts, walls and attics. However, there are signs you can look out for to detect mold. If you notice any of these signs, it’s important to call a mold removal professional promptly to contain and remove the mold.

Common signs of mold include:

How Mold Damages Your Home and Health

Mold can cause serious harm to both your property and your well-being. It thrives on cellulose, a natural substance found in building materials like drywall and wood, making it especially destructive indoors.

As mold grows, it eats away at these organic materials and weakens the structure of your home over time. Because it spreads fast, even a small problem can quickly become a much larger one, affecting bigger sections of your property. Ignoring it can lead to costly repairs and serious health concerns.

That’s why it’s essential to address mold issues right away. Taking action not only helps safeguard your health but also protects the structural stability of your home.

FAQ's

Mold remediation is typically necessary when mold growth is discovered indoors; areas of 25 continuous square of mold infestation are required to be remediated by a licensed mold remediation company, or when there are visible signs of mold, such as musty odors or water damage.

The duration of mold remediation can vary depending on factors such as the size of the affected area, the extent of mold growth, and the complexity of the remediation process. Small-scale remediation projects may take a few days to complete, while larger or more complex cases may take several weeks.

Searching "mold remediation near me" or "mold remediation companies near me" in Houston, Texas is one of the best ways to find Anderson Restoration for mold removal in Houston.

The coverage of mold remediation by insurance hinges on various factors, including the terms outlined in your policy and the root cause of the mold growth.

While certain insurance policies might include mold remediation coverage if it stems from a covered event, like water damage caused by a burst pipe, it's crucial to thoroughly examine your policy and engage in discussions with your insurance provider to grasp the nuances of your coverage. Each insurance policy differs, so gaining clarity on the specifics is essential for informed decision-making regarding mold remediation expenses.

Whether you can stay in your home during mold remediation depends on the extent of the mold contamination and the remediation methods being used. In some cases, it may be safe to remain in the home during remediation, especially if only a small area is affected and containment measures are in place to prevent mold spores from spreading.

However, if extensive mold growth or disruptive remediation methods are involved, it may be advisable to temporarily relocate until the remediation process is complete.
